Specifying a Flag

We can make your flag any size, but there are 8 standard flag sizes to suit most applications.

Size guide:
For in-ground flagpoles, the length of the flag should be one quarter to one third the height of the pole. An example would be if you had a 6m (20ft) flagpole you should be looking at a 91.4cm x 152.4cm (3ft x 5ft) flag.

The standard sizes are (all listed height x width) :

A) Size: 10.1cm x 15.2cm (4 inches x 6 inches)
This is the smallest standard flag and comes with its own little pole so you can wave them by hand at parades, fetes etc. This is also the standard size for table flags. They are made from paper or polyester.

B) Size: 28cm x 38.1cm (11 inches x 15 inches)
This is a popular car flag size. Car flags come with a polypropylene pole and attach to a car window so they flutter when the car moves. They are often seen in support of sporting events such as the football World Cup.

C) Size: 30.5cm x 45.7cm (12 inches x 18 inches)
This is a multi-propose hand flag which can be affixed to a garden fence or waved from a car during special occasions. It has a wooden or plastic pole fixed to it permanently.

D) Size: 61cm x 91.4cm (2ft x 3ft)
This can be used as a hand flag but doesn't normally come with a pole. It will fit on a full size flagpole but can look a little small when hoisted. It suits a small garden flagpole nicely.

E) Size: 91.4cm x 152.4cm (3ft x 5ft)
This is the most common flag size and therefore the most 'Standard', It is a cost effective production size and used on most company flag poles, outside private houses, at schools, clubs etcetera. A full size flag pole is required for this size flag.

F) Size: 121.9cm x 182.9cm (4ft x 6ft)
Whilst only slightly bigger in each dimension, this is a considerable increase in area over the standard size flag. It is therefore much heavier and takes more wind to fly. It is good for flagpoles mounted on the roof of buildings which are further away from the viewer. This flag is popular with fans at sporting events such as motor racing meetings.

G) Size: 152.4cm x 243.8cm (5ft x 8ft)
Considered a 'large' flag it can be used as a flag or banner and needs a securely set in-ground flagpole of at least 30ft (9metres) in length. The materials for the flag will have an effect on how much wind it needs to fly. We can help with recommendations.

H) Size: 182.9cm x 304.8cm (6ft x 10ft)
If there is a group of you prepared to hold this one up, its a really impactful flag for sporting events and works as a back drop for stages during speeches etc. If flown from a flagpole it would need to be at least 12metres (40ft) high. It is very large and can therefore be expensive, depending on the material used.
